If you are concerned about a safeguarding issue speak immediately to your DSL.
If a pupil discloses information to you:
1. Listen and do not promise confidentiality or ask leading questions.
2. As soon as possible record the conversation with dates and times.
3. Inform the DSL immediately.
4. When the DSL is not available speak to one of the DDSLs.
5. If no DSL available, (and in cases where the pupil is at risk), you may refer the situation to the LSCB yourself and inform the DSL of your actions.
6. Should you have a concern about extremism or the radicalisation of a pupil, contact the Prevent phone number: 020 7340 7264.
7. Remember: safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is EVERYONE'S responsibility.
